چکیده

Hydrodynamical simulations of semi-detached, polytropic binary stars are presented in an effort to study the onset and stability of dynamical mass transfer events. Initial, synchronously rotating equilibrium models are constructed using a self-consistentfield technique and then evolved with an Eulerian hydrodynamics code in a fully selfconsistent manner. We describe code improvements introduced over the past few years that permit us to follow dynamical mass-transfer events through more than 30 orbits. Mass-transfer evolutions are presented for two different initial configurations: A dynamically unstable binary with initial mass ratio (donor/accretor) q0 = 1.3 that leads to a complete merger in ∼ 10 orbits; and a double-degenerate binary with initial mass ratio q0 = 0.5 that, after some initial unstable growth of mass transfer, tends to separate as the mass-transfer rate levels off. The Stability of Double White Dwarf Binaries Undergoing Direct Impact Accretion

We present numerical simulations of dynamically unstable mass transfer in a double white dwarf binary with initial mass ratio, q = 0.4. The binary components are approximated as polytropes of index n = 3/2 and the initially synchronously rotating, semi-detached equilibrium binary is evolved hydrodynamically with the gravitational potential being computed through the solution of Poisson’s equati...

Dynamic Stability Analysis of a Beam Excited by a Sequence of Moving Mass Particles

In this paper, the dynamic stability analysis of a simply supported beam carrying a sequence of moving masses is investigated. Many applications such as motion of vehicles or trains on bridges, cranes transporting loads along their span, fluid transfer pipe systems and the barrel of different weapons can be represented as a flexible beam carrying moving masses. The periodical traverse of masses...

Numerical Investigation of Turbulent Mass Transfer in a 90° Bend

This paper presents a numerical study of local mass transfer coefficients in a 90° bend using the RNG version of k–e model to include the influence of curvature on the turbulent transport. Simulations were performed for flow through a 90°, 3-D bend for Reynolds numbers of 13500, 90000, and 390000, Schmidt numbers of 2.53 and 700 and curvature ratios of 1.5, 2, and 2.5. The differences betwe...

Characterization of unsteady double-diffusive mixed convection flow with soret and dufour effects in a square enclosure with top moving lid

The present study considers the numerical examination of an unsteady thermo-solutal mixed convection when the extra mass and heat diffusions, called as Soret and Dufour effects, were not neglected. The numerical simulations were performed in a lid-driven cavity, where the horizontal walls were kept in constant temperatures and concentrations. The vertical walls were well insulated. A finite vol...

Dynamical behavior and synchronization of hyperchaotic complex T-system

In this paper, we introduce a new hyperchaotic complex T-system. This system has complex nonlinear behavior which we study its dynamical properties including invariance, equilibria and their stability, Lyapunov exponents, bifurcation, chaotic behavior and chaotic attractors as well as necessary conditions for this system to generate chaos. We discuss the synchronization with certain and uncerta...
